Choosing the best commercial laundry detergent often comes down to two main issues.
First, it is necessary to determine which product will most effectively clean the types of fabric stains typically encountered at your establishment. In this connections, it is important to recognize the distinction between product options, such as enzyme detergents which contain active ingredients formulated to attack protein-based stains (e.g. blood, perspiration) and laundry degreasers, which are best equipped to eliminate heavy deposits of oil and grease.
Second, the product must work most effectively in the context of the equipment your laundry establishment and procedures your establishment uses. Where versatility and efficiency are priorities, a combination detergent that includes bleach, booster and softener ingredients may be the ideal choice. If, on the other hand, your establishment uses the high efficiency (HE) washers that feature energy-saving technology to achieve maximum cleaning performance, then the more specialized product option of a low-suds, quick dispensing HE detergent is the right choice.
Our line of laundry detergents and supplemental products work exceptionally well alone or as part of an integrated laundry program. The formulations we carry are available in both powders, which are generally more economical to use, and liquids, which are more appropriate or effective in certain specific applications, such as pre-spotter or laundry degreaser. The Agri-Food Safety Division, Agriculture Canada, has no objection to the use of these product in food plants when used according to label directions.
Commercial laundry detergent, by definition, is expected to clean the largest and most severely soiled of an establishment’s laundry in the most efficient manner possible. When such large volumes are being processed, however, using detergent alone may not be sufficient.
Laundry aids can enhance the cleaning process, as with pre-wash spotters, which provide a head start on loosening heavy soil deposits, or bleaches, which convert soil into more soluble, dispersible particles that can be easily carried away in the wash water. Such products can also enhance the laundry itself, as with fabric softeners, which decrease static cling, impart a pleasing fragrance, reduce wrinkling and make ironing easier, or laundry sour, which neutralizes any harsh chemical residues remaining in the wash water to prevent skin irritation.
Supplemental products to commercial laundry applications also function to enhance the wash environment. Alkali builders accelerate cleaning by raising the pH of wash water to levels that optimize soil removal, while water softeners reduce the dissolved calcium, magnesium, and ferrous iron ion concentration in hard water that hinder the activity of detergent formulations.
Laundry products that combine a detergent with bleach and fabric softener ingredients were developed to respond to consumer needs for easy-to-use, one-step laundry soap. The detergent/bleach combination provides for more effective, low-temperature bleaching systems in response to the lower wash temperatures used in today’s wash-loads. Light duty detergents, available in liquid or powder form, are designed for hand or machine washing lightly soiled items, as well as for delicate fabrics. Many are also ideal for baby clothes.
Control: Versatile liquid detergent designed to be equally effective in cold or hot water. Controlled-Suds formulation for increased washing efficiency. Contains a highly effective optical whitening system (color-safe bleach) to leave fabrics super-bright. Liquid formulation is deal where complete solubility in water and avoiding powder and lint residues are priorities. Cleans using modified detergents rather than strong alkaline booster compounds. Contains no phosphates or strong alkaline carbonates; 100% biodegradable.
Super Pine: Laundry degreaser contains high concentration of emulsifiers and water soluble solvents including pine oil for effective cleaning of greasy, oily and soiled fabrics. May be dispensed directly into the wash cycle with automatic equipment or added manually if used in combination with dry chemicals. Recommended for use with an alkali at warm-hot water temperatures for best results.
Enzyme Wash: Enzyme laundry detergent formulated with proteolytic enzymes for removal of protein-based stains such as blood, perspiration, meat juices, eggs, etc. Can be used in the suds cycle or as a presoak for particularly stubborn stains. This product is safe on all washable fabrics. Ideal for use in institutional, commercial and food plant applications.
Oxyzyme HE: High efficiency laundry soap formulated with color-safe oxygen bleach and enzyme stain removers to provide excellent soil removal and brilliant whites and colors. A “one shot” product of medium alkalinity that does not require a sour-neutralizer. The low water temperature requirement of 48 degrees Celsius (120 degrees farenheit) reduces energy costs and provides additional cost savings.
Ideal for commercial shirt laundries and requires little or no pre-treatment of collars or cuffs. Can be used as a pre-soak for particularly stubborn stains. Effective in domestic or commercial laundry applications as a high efficiency laundry detergent.
Pre-Spotter: Laundry pre-spotter removes most common fabric stains such as grease, oil, lipstick, ballpoint pen ink, crayon, grease, etc. . Formulation includes emulsifiers, solvents, surfactants, glycols, glycerine and optical brighteners. Non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-irritant
Laundry Plus: Alkaline booster/break for commercial laundries. Quickly breaks the “soil-to-fabric” bond and makes soils water soluble. Add to liquid laundry detergent to maximize removal of stubborn grease, oil and stain on cottons and polyesters; not for use on wool, silk or delicate synthetics. Free-flowing, powdered washing compound contains active alkaline builders and detergent properties. Specifically designed as an additive to a laundry detergent for institutional multi-component laundry systems. Ideal for food plant use. Add enough to keep pH at 11.5 on the break. Must used Laundry Sour in rinse cycle when Break is added to wash cycle.
Water Conditioner: Water softener sequesters iron, calcium, magnesium and other unwanted minerals present in the laundry wash water. Prevents greying and yellowing of fabrics. Prevents bleach from causing iron in wash water to turn fabrics yellow. Recommended for use in areas with poor water conditions.
Laundry Bleach: Organic chlorine compound contains sodium dichloroisocyanurate; 8% chlorine. Ideal for use in food plants and other industrial and institutional laundry applications. Use 2 – 4 ozs. per 50 lbs. of clothes to provide 50 – 100 p.p.m. available chlorine.
Liquid Oxygen Bleach: Hydrogen Peroxide bleaching compound. An excellent alternative for bleaching operations where the use of chlorine bleach is undesirable, as where laundry wash water has high iron content. Can be used safely on wools, silks and most synthetic fibres. Will not cause a yellowing color on white synthetic fibres and may be used on colored fabrics. Also ideal for use as a sanitizer in food plants and other industrial applications.
Fabric Softener: Laundry fabric softener. Shortens extraction time, increases flat work production, reduces tumbling, drying time and fabric wrinkling. Eliminate static cling and improve ironing time significantly. Cationic liquid is completely soluble and readily dispersed in hot or cold water to give uniform coverage to the entire load. Ideal for use in food plants and other industrial and institutional applications. When used in commercial applications, 1 – 3 oz. per 50 lb. of laundry is recommended. For use in domestic top-loading machines add 1 oz. in rinse cycle.
Sour: Laundry sour neutralizes harsh chemical residues in linen. Contains rust-removing properties and bluing agents. Reduces fabric harshness and skin irritation. Ideal for use in food plants and other industrial and institutional laundry applications. Suggested ratio is 2-4 oz. per 100 lbs. of linen; concentrations should be adjusted to achieve a pH of approximately 6.
Ultra Brio: Sensitive skin laundry detergent. Liquid formulation is safe for baby’s skin, yet tough enough to get stains out. Easy application – requires no laundry additives
Ultra Kleen: Powdered lemon laundry detergent is ideal for all machine washable fabrics, and is highly effective in removing all types of stubborn stains. Quickly dissolves in all water temperatures and levels of hardness. Easy application. Leave laundry clean and fresh smelling.
